Who am I?

I am Maykow Menezes, an engineer and software developer specializing in engineering project automation and modeling. My background combines civil engineering and software development. I am the creator of the FreeCadBIM channel on YouTube, where I share knowledge about using FreeCAD for architectural and engineering projects. I recently faced a setback: my previous channel was unexpectedly removed, resulting in the loss of all previously published content. Despite this, I remain firm in my purpose of promoting the use of free software and democratizing engineering tools for professionals and enthusiasts.

What is the project?

I am developing a set of 2D and 3D structural analysis tools for FreeCAD, a free and open source software. With these tools, it will be possible to perform static and dynamic linear analyses, in addition to considering second-order effects. I also intend to create resources to assist in the dimensioning of metal and reinforced concrete structures. All of this material will be made available free of charge to the engineering community. To make this possible, I count on your collaboration.

How did the idea come about?

It is common for engineers and designers to be faced with the high costs of engineering software offered by large companies. Small and medium-sized offices often cannot afford these costs and, therefore, resort to piracy to remain competitive. Looking for a solution to this problem, the idea for the StructureTools project was born.

Project status

I am currently developing the basic functionalities of a structural analysis software, such as adding nodal and linear loads, and defining supports. You can follow the progress of the project through social media. I plan to release the first alpha version in a few months; however, this depends on the funding obtained. At the moment, I am balancing this project with my main job, which limits the time available for exclusive dedication.
